First timer for Linux

Till now I have been using windows only. Now,I want to learn about Linux. Can any one tell me which one should I download and from where. I have heard about Redhat, ubuntu, mandrake...I really have no idea about them

I would suggest you go down to your local computer store and buy a commercial linux product (Red Hat or another one). They have pretty good installers that will make installing Linux on your box a lot easier. For the most part they detect all hardware and do all the work for you. They will also get all the components you want installed instead of having to do it manually.
