I need help remembering a certain term. It's a term that describes a person's tendancy to believe something only because it is what they have already accepted as fact for the majority of their life. When confronted with an alternative theory on a particular matter, even if the reasoning behind the new theory is more sound, they tend to reject it simply because it would be uncomfortable for them to have to deal with the fact that what they believed all their life was incorrect. It's a psychological term that's either called "the something effect" or "something syndrome"... I can't seem to remember it. I need to figure this out because I'm writing about something that it is relevant to. Please help me out!

I believe there was something about World of Warcraft and Cognative Dissonance.
