Situation: Sometimes I get a scrambled screen, other times, the screen's just blank and my motherboard falls back on the integrated graphics. What led to the situtation? So, an AGP 8X EVGA e-GeForce 6200 arrived about a couple of days ago. I tested it on my motherboard with an AGP 4X port, and it worked perfectly. No problems experienced whatsoever. The next day, I decided to close up my system and put all the screws back in place. I had to remove the card and place it back in. I couldn't test it at that moment as I was late for work, so I just covered everything up. After I got back home, I hit the power button, but the computer did not boot. Opened it up, and followed almost every troubleshooting option. Eventually, it booted up with a scrambled screen. Shut down, removed the card, placed it back in. Nothing. Checked to make sure if the card was seated properly again. Scrambled screen. Reboot. Blank screen. And then just a variation of what's happened previously. But mostly blank screens. What could be the possible cause of this problem? Any solutions? Thanks.

Unplugged video cable, toasted video card, toasted monitor, toasted motherboard, in decreasing order of likelihood.

Oh, it's also quite possible you forgot to plug in a power connector somewhere - read the manual and double-check the card/motherboard for power leads that aren't connected.

Video cable securely plugged. Check.
Monitor works with the integrated video. Monitor not toasted. Check.
System still boots without the video card. Motherboard not toasted. Check.

Video card toasted. Likely. Although I certainly hope not. It's a horrible disaster that will make me cry for days.

The video card may not be plugged all the way into the slot, which would explain the cause of the blank screens but i'm not sure if it would cause a scrambled screen.

This has happened to me a few times in the past. It's worth checking.

You also might not have enough power to drive the card. If you have AGP4x and integrated video, chances are they also cut corners on your power supply.
