Luke, I have built such a thing, although it is EXTREMELY simple; I''m just an OpenGL Newbie. My world editor builds a matrix of quads and you can glue any bitmaps to walls. Currently I''m working on an import routine for LightWave objects; this would mean you can draw an environment in Lightwave, import it, and run around in it Well, all code can be found in: http://212.204.132.69/OpenGL/OGL2.zip ......(except for the lightwave import routine, I''m still working on that). Please note that for the world editor you will need a Borland DLL which is included in the package.
Hi

After asking for that tutorial I started writing my own level editor. It has three different views (back, side and top) and you just add a face and drag it where you want it. It should be finished in about a week so if you want I''ll send you the source code (I use BCB 4.0 aswell) e-mail me if you do.

Your editor looks good, thanks you''ve given me some ideas

Luke.

Ok, keep me informed. I''m interested!! In fact, I think the major problem in building 3D engines is not the engine itself, but how to create a flexible tool that builds your environment (or is this blasphemy?!?!?). In fact, I''m aiming for building a 3D web-like environment, which creates a 3D world distributed over multiple servers. Imagine it would be possible to walk down a hall, and at the end of the hall, you enter someone elses area via http or whatever. Unfortunately I have many ideas but so little time (kids, work, wife...;-).

You can always leave a message on the messageboard. Latest versions of all projects I''m working on are on my website (just enter the ip-adres without the postfix stuff) or mail me at jansenj@home.nl

bye
