Hello, I am trying to find any good beginners information on script integration. Meaning that you have a script file somewhere and then you want to run it from inside the program, and the script should be able to affect the program itself. Do I really have to program my own parser for this?

No, you definitely don't need to write your own. Three good alternatives are Lua, Python, and AngelScript. You can google for any of these to find good info for getting started. I use Lua myself.

I'd say it depends on how much you want your scripts to do. If you're just using them to say, set up values for some object or something, just go with a simple script parser since that will probably actually be faster than integrating a 3rd party scripting language. But if you're doing more complex things or just want to learn more about scripting in general I'd definitely say to go with something like Lua.

I was quite surprised to see that this book had a pretty good section on integrating LUA into an engine:

Programming Game AI by Example

I second that. I haven't actually embedded LUA into anything, simply because I don't like the structure of the language(more of a plain C or C++ person), but the book has a large section on embedding LUA, along with a good explanation on some AI topics.
