whats the best approach? i've been contemplating this for a while now! but unsure of the correct approach. ideas i have had, sending a ray down each velocity of every point in the cloth and doing a ray - triangle intersection with EVERY triangle in the mesh (oh the pain), is this possible for realtime? then i thought to attach a sphere to each point then just do a simple point sphere detection, but it would look so bad. i read a paper a while ago about cones, can't remember the technique though. if you have any techniques then please air them, i'm looking for all types speed/accuracy etc! Cheers

The best thing is to watch the fluid simulation in action, then disseminate the components of the Navier-Stokes equations for homogeneous (compressible or incompressible) fluid dynamics. A good paper for this is:

Fast Fluid Dynamics Simulation on the GPU, Mark J. Harris ... Wierd. This nv web url is down at the moment.

As well as:

Real-Time Fluid Dynamics for Games, Jos Stam

And:
Stable Fluids, Jos Stam

Remember to watch the simulations in action, repeatedly. Practice to be able to guess the path of fluid over time.
