I have a RealTek AC97 audio sound driver, I have looked around online and tried contacting them with no luck. It has been having this problem for quite some time and its getting to be a pain when certain games can't even be played. I've updated it to the latest driver along with re-installed the driver. What happens is in certain games there will be sounds that are played at the same time as other sounds. This doesn't happen in all games or software only certain ones. Ventrillo is one area this does happen, upon when someones speaking. There are quite a few other things that cause it like when running a game in windowed-mode and using a browser the "clicking" sounds you get on links. It will make a disorted sound occasionally this sound gets progressively louder. It's very hard to describe this sound the best description I can think of is an extremely high-bass version of a microphone making one of those horrible noises, it's also very loud. I thought perhaps it was a hardware issue so I switched the speakers it used. The sound still is remains it seems like nothing will fix this. Does anyone know what I should do? Anything else I should try? Has anyone experienced this and found a solution?

After problems with my AC'97 card I just bought a $15 SoundBlaster Live 5.1 off of eBay. The increase in sound quality was staggering, besides fixing all the glitches (obviously).
