Hello everyone. EDGE (Easy Development Game Engine) is an opensource game engine aimed to make game development easy, quick and yet powerful. It is cross-platform and runs using OpenGL and SDL, and it's written in C++. However, EDGE is still in quite early stages and we need to build a community to make the engine better and better every day! That is why I ask you to register on our community Project: CodeDev Community (aiming to feature more opensource projects in the future) and contribute code to our project! See you there, Michel [Edited by - Bear777 on February 22, 2007 3:08:59 AM]

Hi,

You're likely to get more hits if you provide a link, like this:

Link

Anyway, it looks interesting - I'll definitely take a look at the site as soon as I have a chance. I'm sure you'll get feedback from others here on GDNet as well.

And by the way, nice acronym :-)

Thanks for the tip, It's always different in every forum. I expected it to be automatically turned into a link. And yeah, I like the acronym as well (I'm not the one who made it).

Just wanted to let you know that I gave the code a quick look. It looks like a good start, and I wish you the best of luck with the project.

Also, I encourage you to be patient, and not to be discouraged if your project doesn't attract a lot of attention at first. Remember that there are many, many such projects already out there vying for the attention of developers - it's a pretty crowded field. But even if the project doesn't take off like you hope it will, it'll still be great learning experience.

A couple of little things I noticed. This:
Class SoundController::GetClass(){    return CLASS_NETWORK_CONTROLLER;}
Looks like a copy-and-paste error. Also, I see some C standard library stuff here and there; if you intend for this to be a C++ library, I suggest that you use the C++ standard library (and perhaps Boost) and C++ idioms consistently throughout the code.

Also, it looks like the resolution is hard coded as 640x480. At the very least these values should be named constants so that they're easy to change.

Of course there are many other areas where improvements could be made, but I realize it's a work in progress.

Again, good luck, and have fun with it :)

Hey, thanks very much. I noticed there were some minor copy-paste errors, I fixed some of them already. And we just need a function to change the resolution, it's just that we didn't need it so far.
But anyway, thanks for the tips, we're working really hard on it to make the engine have many more features.

Michel
