I am working on a smoke system and I need to know how to use the alpha values to make the smoke fade away. I am coding opengl in c. I have got it so it gradually changes colour over time but I cannot get the dam thing to fade using transparency. Can anyone help?

Hey. My OpenGL is a little rusty (me being a complete DX fool ), but check out NeHe's tutorials on Blending. (http://nehe.gamedev.net) NeHe's tutorials are the best I have found so far, and should provide you with all the info you will need.

Wow, I am not doing good on my first draft of posts. I have had to edit every one, so it makes descent sense tonight. Maybe I should go to sleep.

instead of using glColor3f( r, g, b ), use glColor4f( r, g, b, a ) - the fourth parameter is the alpha component.
