Over the years of playing games I've noticed quite a few soundtracks for games that just fit in perfectly or really set the scene right. What are some soundtracks or individual songs you liked from a game? I personally liked -Kingdom Hearts 1 -Final Fantasy 7, 9, some of 10 -Resident Evil 1 the mansion music used to scare the crap out me :) -Knights of the old Republic Might be just me but in the past listening to some music from a game made me want to play it.

Super Mario (64 or not), Zelda 64 OOT, and Spyro the Dragon come to mind. I thought the music to HL2 fit very well, but I'm hesitant to call it 'great'. Smash Brothers, just because their remixing of the various themes is nothing short of brilliant. Oh, and Halo of course.

I think the best game sound track was Half-life... nothing was more bad-ass then when you first pick up your HEV suit and your sound system fades in a sweet beat mix.

The other game that kinda sticks out in mind was the original Homeworld. The background music was like the icing on the cake to the symphony of awesomeness in that game. I liked the coordination of the narrators voice with game events and music, especially when you return and the home world is destroyed. "what happened? ...everything is destroyed, everyone is dead. We have nothing left for us here." yeesh, that still gives me goose bumps :)

Although not strictly a soundtrack, OCremix just out up their newest group collaboration project thingy, 'Final Fantasy 7: Voices of the lifestream'.

I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, but if it's on par with the likes of the Donkey Kong project 'Kong in concert' or the Super Metroid project 'Dark side of Phobos', it's going to be good quality.

Essentially every single game on the Amiga.

I'm particularly fond of Lemmings 2 and Lotus 2, but I'm sure I could list a whole lot if I put my mind to it.

Tracker music is pretty great in general. The original Unreal and Deus Ex both had very fitting sound tracks with bonus tracker nostalgia.

Mainly any music from Jeremy Soule (creator of oblivion music)

Starcraft!! So amazing.

However, I'm not sold on what I've heard of SC2's soundtrack yet...
