In an attempt to heighten superpig's artistic ability (by comparing it to mine), I've used most of the filters in The GIMP. Sadly, I don't know how to make something transparent in GIMP as it's my second hour in it...

Now with transparency.

Wait until after the element announcement. It's been awhile since the elements were air, earth, fire, and water.

How big (pixel width and height wise) can the image be? I've got something in mind that I would love to do up, but I have a feeling the image might be a tad too large.

That's my feeling too.

I'll have a crack at whipping up a logo on the weekend once the elements are revealed and I can gauge the theme of this year's contest. I'm not much of a graphic designer but I'm trying to pick up the basics, and designing a logo is a good exercise in learning Illustrator.

Oh, the font used was Celtic Hand, as I recall.

A good idea; I think that I thought that I might as well take a shot at it using Earth, air, fire and water since that was what Superpig had used.

I think you might be onto something - combining the 4 and the E... I might have to take a crack at this now...

Here is my offering:



Its pretty basic, but I like the balance and flow. Could use like a '4E6' in the center or something.

I say do something like the Google logo, with maybe "GameDev.net 4E Contest" text logo with the elements interacting with the letters.

This is very basic and unstyled, but it can easily be changed to be flashier. However, pixel art probably isn't the way to go here.

i allready didn't get what the 4e6 is it just reminds me that singing rick roll guy. but logo looks like it neds its 4.
and may be flaming 4 and e with a good background.
like a wind and rain for adding other parts if necessary.
