So i'm thinking about using Amazon.com for the first time. - Does anybody have any complaints or warnings about Amazon.com in general? - Does amazon have a good return policy (like if the package is opened or the contents are broken)? - Does Amazon place their label on the packaging? Or is it a plain box with no labels others the destination address? Thanks guys, and Happy new year.

1. Nope

2. The one time they sent me the wrong order they told me to keep the stuff and sent out the correct order straight away

3. They do

Amazon is great! Similar to ebay but better quality control (and no auctions i suppose). I usually buy most of my dvd's from amazon, you get great prices without the worry of mass amounts of bootlegs like on ebay.

Note: these days, I exclusively buy from amazon.co.uk (as the taxes are just too much when importing from the USA, though maybe now with the low dollar...). It has happened more than once that DVD cases arrived in a damaged state, but other than that, I have no complaints. Once there was an order that would not arrive, they just resend it after I contacted them.

Another time my order seemed frozen in a "ready for dispatch" state, I wrote them and they answered it was some kind of bug, they apologized for the inconvenience and gave me a 5£ discount on my next order. When trying to use that discount, there again was a bug, which doubled the amount. Wanting to be helpful to my programmer-colleagues, I of course tried to replicate it multiple times, but to no avail...

I've ordered about 8 or 9 books and they've all been in perfect condition and cost much less than the list price on the backs of the covers. My advise is to take the free shipping if it's offered. Although it says 5-9 days, I've never had it take more than 5 or 6.

Amazon is by far the best web-vendor I have ever dealt with. The shipments almost always arrive sooner than expected, you almost always get some kind of discount by buying from them, and they have great customer service.

Not related to Amazon, but a game dev book publishing company. The first CD has a little problem with it which they already know by then, and they decided to send the new cd imprint - along the book. So I have two Tricks Of The Windows Game Programming Gurus. I decided to donate the old one to college library. Bye.
