Let's say you're swinging a bat at a ball coming in. How do you calculate the "Tangential Force" for a position on the bat you're swinging? I've seen some posts about this used with spheres but I can't figure it out and my code is looking less and less recognizable. hehe Any help or pointers would be great. Thank you. Happy coding.

I think you need to explain what you are looking for specifically.

Um, the Tangential Force that is applied to an object striking the bat at a particular position.

When an object hits towards the end of the bat, there will be more force than if it hits towards the handle.

How do I compute the correct force depending on where the ball hit? To keep it simple let's assume a pure elastic collision.

In 2D we know the following:

Bat (v is Vector)
v1 - Rotation Base
v2 - The tip of the bat
fSpeed - the speed the bat is moving thru it's arc

Ball
vBall1 - The starting position of the ball
vBall2 - where the ball wanted to be when we detected the collision
fBallSpeed - the speed the ball is traveling

After collision
vCollisionPoint - the point where the ball hit the bat

Show me the magic! :)

Thanx and happy coding.
