Maybe I'm just a cranky old bastard, but I'm getting sick of this internet meme fast.

Im going to the mets game on saturday with my pa. I will rick roll them

Me too, but that just might be there's only so many ways you can warp the meme. It's not like the "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" meme that swept around nearly a decade ago - there's countless variations to make keep that amusing.

Surely there's a bunch of funnier songs (or at least more bizarre) you could go for:

• "Our Don Bradman" would be one of my top picks, but no-one outside Australia would get the reference
  
• The Canandian national anthem
  
• Or indeed "God Save the Queen"
  
• The theme to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon
  
• etcetera.
  

I think it's also the fact that it's gotten so big so quick. I mean it's funny, but not "Rick Roll the Mets" funny. At some point you just want to say "Ok guys, let's not go overboard, it's just a silly little internet meme".

It's like the Halo "not scared of anything" meme. It's funny, but if someone made a website saying he's going to do that to the President, I'd just roll my eyes and think "yeah it's not THAT funny".

I always thought it was funny, maybe it's because I actually like the song. But on April fool's day, I wanted to stab Rick in the eye. Seriously people come up with something original.

Yeah, this rick roll stuff is annoying. And why do people always feel the urge to do "live" rick rolls? It's only mildly entertaining on the internet, and just plain stupid when people take it to sporting events and the like.

Well, I for one think it's awesome. I've never rickrolled anyone, and it's only happened to me a few times, but damn did I laugh when it happened. The video is just so hard hitting, the first 10 seconds are just so damn ridiculous and hilarious that it hurts. Somebody says that have this video that provides the perfect counterpoint to your argument and you click to see what it is and WHAM! some rediculous 80 drums hit and your speakers are turned up way too loud and everybody around you is looking and then some rediculous redhead appears on the screen doing dance moves more painfully bad than Elane from Seinfeld. And as your laughing and crying you read through the tears "You've been Rick Rolled!".

I don't understand the purpose of Rickroll.

Why can't we all just share a bed with each other? The world will be a much happier place :)
