XNA UI Tools?

I've been working on a UI Designer in my spare time lately. It has full Visual Studio Integration, and is purposely very close to the functionality of Windows Forms Designer and pretty easy to use. I've mostly been making it for my own uses, but I was wondering what kind of demand there was for a windows-like UI toolset for XNA? I would also be curious to know if anyone knows of similar tools out there right now.

There is a couple of XNA gui libraries out there. I remember them from a while ago. They didn't have an interface to create them though. If you search for "xna gui" a couple of them will pop up.

Have a good one.

After going through the first 10 pages of the Google search for XNA GUI, it seems like xWinForms is the most complete UI system out there, and it doesn't have a designer, or a lot of the features I am working into mine.

I wonder if there might be a market for a complete XNA GUI system that can be plugged into your game.

*shrug*

It would be nice, but I think you should consider the fact that the overwhelming majority of XNA projects are being worked on by hobbyists with little to no budget. IMO it's not going to be worth it for most of those projects to spend money on a GUI system, when they could take a little time to make something that fits their needs/looks/style/etc.

However with XBL Community Games actually being something of a store rather than just a free content provider, it might start drawing in a lot more indie and casual developers that would be interested in this sort of product.

I guess I thought there were more indie and casual developers already using XNA. Even for a hobbyist though, I can imagine paying $20 for an addin that allows them to easily create a professional looking GUI and maybe handle scripting scripting as well. Especially since those are quite lacking in XNA.

In any case, I'm making it because it's a project I get to have creative freedom on outside of work, and it will be useful for making my own games. If other people find it useful, I'll be happy to provide it for a small fee, or maybe even just open source the whole thing later.

Well $20 doesn't sound too bad at all...I'm used to seeing much higher numbers when it comes to licensing fees for middleware.

If it is as good as it sounds, and as long as it doesn't come with any ridiculous restrictions, I'd buy it. The alternative is spending many days to make the same from scratch, which quickly adds up to over $20 worth of time.

So what do you think would be a fair price for it, assuming it is as good as I say, and does what is advertised? I was just thinking that it is something built in my spare time and since XNA targets indie developers and hobbyists that $20 would be reasonable.

Since I'm a hobbyist XNA developer I guess I'll cast my vote.

If the UI designer works well and supports scripting, I can see paying $20 for it (assuming licensing doesn't become a huge burden).

For $30, I'd probably have to try it out first but I still might buy it.

Anything more and I'd rather do my own.

Personally I'd probably go up to $50 if the quality is decent and the license isn't super-restrictive.

Now I'm curious what kind of licensing models most middleware companies use if people are worried about licensing this much. I would assume that you would just need to purchase a copy per developer using it, are middleware providers trying to charge per sale of a game using it or something?
