Previous Work by Team: none Additional Info: In order to be productive and to keep things from stagnating, we've devided the project into four Phases to help us acheive our goals: Phase 1 was put in place to discuss and design the New Age code base before we started any coding. We wanted to avoid the pitfalls that plague and often doom open-source projects to failure such as poor planning, ad hoc'ed code and to resist the urge to 'just get something working'. Bad code is not worth trying to fix and it seemed logical to have a good idea of what we were going to do before we actually started. Phase 2 of our development process, our current phase, focuses primarily on the Client itself. We don't have the manpower to develop both a Client and Server simultaneously so we opted to instead focus on the end user part of the game by developing an offline single-player story mode. Much of the code that will go into the single-player mode (such as NPC/Monster Logic, player handling, weather systems, map handling, etc.) will later be transplanted into a stand-alone server that can then take over the task of dictating where things are and how they are behaving. Enter Phase 3. Phase 3 of the development process will essentially be transplanting the network, logic and message protocol code developed during Phase 2 and building a stand-alone server suite around it. It should be a fairly straight-forward and quick process and modifying the Client code to ‘plug in’ to the Server software should be trivial. This phase will focus on developing the inter-server message protocol, database storage engines and web-based administrative back-ends. Most of this development process will not be public and so will be heavily tested by the development team itself. We will also be developing the MMO content so that we can test out all important areas of MMO's like quests, scripts, events, battles and so on. Phase 4 is the point where we will finish the single-player mode and complete our offline testing and open up public test servers. From here we will iron out any additional protocol problems that may arise including performance bottlenecks and major bugs. This is the point where most of our MMO content will begin major development and we can begin to see some real tangible evidence that we’ve got ourselves a fully-realized MMORPG. In addition to the software and code development, we've all be very hard at work coming up with the content for the game, both the offline story mode and the online MMO. The following is a link to an online directory of some of our current Concept Artwork: Directory of Concept Artwork. Our Wiki also outlines much of the story that we've been able to develop. It's been awhile since we've worked primarily on the Wiki so you can find scattered bits and pieces of our content development and discussion on our Community Forums. Our Community Forums are open for anybody to register on and use to ask questions, make suggestions, help with development and contributions, and find out what we've been up to. It's also the fastest way to get a response to any inquiries you may have. Thanks for your continued support! Hears to our prospective Team Members! I dont know how much of an asset I could be to the current project, but I have some great projects that I designed that I would love to see come to life, if your studio would be interested in any of my designs send me a PM and I could give you the information. I have a thread in the forum for a project I would like to begin development on.

spiralseven, I appreciate your enthusiasm and your vote of confidence. However, we're not really 'for hire' as the case may be. We're quite busy with our current project.

We're not professionals and New Age Software is not an established company. It is simply a group name that we use to identify ourselves.

Good luck in your search.

We have filled out our Writing team, however we are still in great need of artists of all types (2D art). Please let us know if you are interested!

I know it's not much but I wanted to post a project update with our first viable screenshot:

Renderer Test

It's really not much but it's taken a great deal of work to set up the framework to actually get this screenshot to work. Many different components are working together to produce that image.

So, long story short, we've hit another milestone in our Phase 2 development. We're now working on both our GUI system and the Tile Map Engine.

Thanks for your continued support!
