Random techie question -- sometimes my internet connection appears to have died (web pages don't load) but pings are still fine. What possible explanation is there for this? It's an 802.11/g connection, FWIW

try clearing your cache

try resetting your DNS

netsh winsock reset catalog

(that's in xp)

could also be your ISP

Define "won't load". Can you telnet to the google.com on port 80? If so, can you send "GET / HTTP/1.0" followed by two newlines? What do you get back as a reply?
