Team name: "Novia Studios" [Unregistered, will never be registered, name changing after successful registration of corporation] Project name: Codenamed "Novia" [Changing before game release] Brief description: Novia is an online browser-based future-oriented MMORTS being developed as a prototype to eventually reach the mobile gaming market. It has been developed off and on by me and a couple other people for a little over one year. I currently work on it full time. It started off as a hobby and now has gained some commercial interest resting upon the completion of the initial prototype, and all of us involved would really like to get paid to work on it full time :). Target aim: There are credits available for purchase in-game Compensation: Budget is currently out of pocket; class C corporation is currently in-motion, and a certain amount of stock will be allocated to people who wish to help at such an early stage. In any event, there is some money available, but I want to be clear that at this stage it is very low budget. Technology: The current target system is browser-based. The technologies currently in use are C++, PHP, MySQL, and a grip of javascript. [Future] 2-4 months after prototype completion and testing, it is being ported to the iPhone & Android. Talent needed: [2 Positions] javascript Developer We need a javascript developer or two familiar with JQuery that is able to mock up UI elements and build additional API elements which interact with the game server. The javascript developer will work closely with me to implement the gameplay. There are a number of features that currently need implemented as soon as humanly possible, so I would like to find people that are able to spend approximately 15-20 hours per week. Location/hours available is not too important. Art Director/Concept Artist We are in dire need of an artist/artists to help with the concept art. There has been some story line written already, which should help guide with the style. The end graphics will be 2D Isometric, and "futuristic" in general. This is by far the most crucial need at this point. Team structure: * I started as the sole developer working on it in my spare time. I now work on it full time. * I pulled in a friend of mine who helps with the javascript requirements part time, as well some PHP and whatever else needs done. * As of last month, there is now someone in charge of creative writing for the story, managing business requirements, and helping me organise this into something successful. Website: Development website is protected; I can give access to those qualified/interested Contacts: Email: rsolson [AT] gmail [DOT] com Previous Work by Team: None Game Related. All involved have had a minimum of 8 years developing software including for massive online social networks. Additional Info: Story Line [Partial, Drafty] In the future, capitalism rules supreme. Earth has an over abundance of people, all yearning for new experiences and substantial entertainment. This need, coupled with many advances to space fairing and corporatized human rights changes, has led to Interplanetary Offworld Colony Franchises, known as "Starchises". The goal of your Starchise is simple: land on the Planet, mine as many natural resources and possible and grow your colony size to control as much of the planet's surface as possible. Given the fact that these planets have no known intelligent life*, you alone are in-charge of fending off competing colonies and reigning as lord and master. - There are a 3 franchisors, each offering unique advantages and disadvantages. - Build up colonies, wage wars or trade with other franchises! - Manage your Starchises from your iPhone (or other mobile device) Even More Additional Info Game rounds run long-term (between 6-9 months each). Each world is persistent and constantly changing based on interaction from the users. The game is segmented by spoken language/country; the game is completely internationalized and supports a variety of languages, etc.. Multiple instances of the game are run in parallel. Feedback: ANY Please contact me either via email or through PM here if you are interested, or reply if you want to request additional information. [Edited by - rsolson on May 19, 2009 1:10:23 AM]
