So what I have is 2 vertex buffers (positions and normals) on two different streams. The two vertex buffers have differentsize because let's say some normals repeat on different vertices. Is it possible to create index buffer that indexing to both positions/normals buffers like this - P0 N0 P1 N1 P2 N0 ...? I think I've seen it somewhere on tutorial but I can't find it again and I can't seem to find anything that is saying it is possible. I know that DX10 can have different source frequencies but it's different from what I'm trying to accomplish here. And I'm trying to make it work on DX9

Is there a reason for the two being split into 2 buffers? Could they not just be in one?

Well I'm interested if this is possible not just for a specific case. My exporter currently support exporting like this mainly because I think I saw it done and because the COLLADA format is structured similar. I do support exporting in single vertex buffer as well just wanted to make my game end import all the possible formats from my exporter.

I can give you example what I think will be beneficial...
If you have a big complex model where all the edges are 90 degrees you will have only 6 normals. I just doesn't worth storing normal per vertex.

"Not possible" is also answer of my question :D
