Googling for hxRender gives me a homepage and a Sourceforge repository. The homepage doesn't seem to exist anymore (google has a cached version from May 2) and the repository is empty. Did hxrender move somewhere else or is it dead? And if its dead, does anyone know of another SDL/OpenGL wrapper like it?

Wow, hxRender is a name I've not heard in about 4 years now.

You might want to look into SFML for OpenGL and "SDL like" capabilities (you can't use SDL with it though). You can use SFML's drawing code on top of OpenGL if you wish as long as you take heed their warnings about OpenGL state preservation. Have a look at SFML's tutorials and documents and see if it'll do.

Update: Joel has made me maintainer of hxRender. It is now in the CVS on SourceForge.net.
