Did JC say anything about when the Doom 3 is going to be GPLed at Quake Con?

I don't know, but I would assume not too long after Wolfenstein is out, since that game still uses tech 4. Although, I think Splash Damage is using the ETQW branch of id tech 4 as a base for Brink, so it could possibly be a bit longer.
As long as they don't make the combat system as god awful as it was in Fallout 3, and actually keep it a First Person Shooter, then I'll be happy. Yes, Fallout 3 had one of the worst combat systems in the world.

From the trailer though there was nothing that enticing, however I'm always happy to blow off some heads if there are good explosions to back it up :D

He said he still hasn't tried selling the idea to zenimax management yet. According to what he said, he's going to be talking to them about it in the near future.
I like the trailer. I hope the game will be as good :)
For the first time in a long time I am looking forward to an ID game. Last time that happened was q3.
I was influenced by the Ghetto you ruined.
here's carmack's keynote if anyone wan't to see it.

Someone near the end there asked if we might see a Commander Keen game on iPhone, and JC didn't say no. He said that he has some ideas for a platformer on the iphone, and that the quick development cycles on the iphone let them make games quickly enough for something like that to be a possibility. I'm excited as hell for Rage and Doom 4, but if they make a new Keen game I'm buying an ipod touch/iphone/whatever it takes to run it DAY ONE, especially if they bring back Tom Hall to do design work.
ID games have great atmosphere and spectacular attention to detail. They are slowly learning how to do good gameplay but they don't need it, its just a bonus. Its not the graphics, its the detail. HL2 and FO3 were bland and generic. D3 was really juicy.

...HL2 ... were bland and generic...

Oh no, you didn't.

Kidding aside, I am looking forward to RAGE and the keynote was great. I had my hopes down when id got involved with Zenimax, but Carmack assures that they are doing things their way and Zenimax is not getting involved in the development process. At least not on the creative side.
