Hey guys, I'm not going to use the template since I'm neither promoting my own services nor recruiting for a project I'm running. Instead I wanted to make everyone aware of the second annual Gamedev.net Composition Contest! This year we're hoping to have all interested composers write music for one level of a game, then a panel of judges will play this one level and figure out which music supports it best! So I'm putting out an open call to all projects that have one level that is ready for sound (i.e. about as finalized as possible without having any background music). Here's what I'm looking for: 1) One level that features very close to complete game play. (Remember judges are going to be playing this game and weighing how well all other aspects of the game compare to the music written to support this level.) 2) An executable that would allow non-technical people (i.e. composers!) to import in their song, test it in-game, import in any further iterations of that song then be able to give me the final result. This will then be passed on to a panel of game audio pros for judging. This needs to be really simple and straight forward! What you get in return: 1) Exposure for your game! More folks will see your project, including some high ranking game audio pros! Free PR! 2) I'll gladly promote the chosen project in all of the materials related to the contest itself. I can write up a quick bio on you and the project as well as provide links so folks can learn more about you and the game. 3) The chosen game gets to see one level supported by all kinds of composers with a wide variety of music. I'm still working out some details like if the game's creator likes the winning music, could it be used in the game? This type of stuff would be discussed with the chosen game before the contest begins. My primarily concern is that we make this a fun, educational and beneficial contest for all involved. 4) You'll get a funny and heartwarming Christmas card from me for the next ten years! How to apply: If you'd like your game to be considered please PM me with these items: 1) A brief description of the project. What type of genre does it fall under? What kind of release are you aiming for? (Free or retail.) Tell me about the team working on this project. (Ages, education, other projects completed, etc) What makes your project different and special? 2) Screen shots and/or video of your project. If you don't have any screen shots, then you're probably not ready to help out with this contest. 3) Playable demo of the level you'd like supported. Please include clear instructions on how to play this game. (It would be best if these instructions were included in a splash screen within the game itself but you can also type them out as well.) To keep the contest fair and more objective we're only having one level supported by the composers. I'd like to be able to play through this level while I'm considering which game to feature for this contest. That's pretty much it! If you have any questions please PM me! Thanks, Nate
