I was wondering if I could get some feedback from you guys on a mock-up of our new homepage. http://simopsstudios.com/at/mockup/frontpage.jpg It's meant to attract developers to our platform, and as a community of developers I thought it would be a good idea to find out what kind of feelings you get from it. Any and all feedback is welcomed and greatly appreciated - especially any that relate to you as a game developer. Thanks!

The menu navigation looks simple enough and the icons are fantastic and theme in general is great, although the black on gray is too hard for me to read (it kind of blurs together into an incomprehensible blotch). Other potential problems are that there is probably too much content at the bottom half. Conversely, the fact that I have to scroll down half a page to even see that stuff, while the top half is just a marketing blurb.

Thanks for the quick feedback.

I see what you mean about the text. When it gets to be larger blocks of text it starts to blend. As for the location and the amount of space spent on the marketing, I don't have much of a say on that =). However, it's good to know that it may be causing some degree of imbalance.

I definitely like it!

It looks clean, professional... exactly what I'd expect from a Game Engine website.

I can't think of a single thing wrong with it, actually :) All of the relevant information is front and center. Again, it's clean.

Great job!

looks really great! I absolutely like it. But one minor issue, it took me a while to realize the "News" and "Blogs" buttons under RSS. Maybe you can do something to make the button more stand out.

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm glad you guys like it.

It seems like the bottom section may a bit cluttered and that makes it hard to see individual elements.

I think so at least. Unfortunately, as you are probably well aware, getting such a portal page to look nice (for everyone) is not so trivial an undertaking (in fact in my humble opinion noone except for Google has ever gotten it right =D). Maybe the best you can do is let users customize which widgets they will get to see on the front page. If it's impossible to cut down, you could also consider increasing the width since you have so much on there.

Your theme does look really professional though, as one would expect when visiting a serious (ie: not amateur) community. Best of luck.
