I figure you guys might can help me better. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit , last night 32bit. Anyways, i was using 181.20 drivers, but i did an uninstall, and windows install a driver for me, 185.93, the DDI version read " 9Ex " . Well i install a driver by mistake and now i can't seem to get it back and windows , doesn't want to install that driver anymore and even when it did, it never installs 9ex version. Please tell what driver or how to enable it , force it something, please.

You have 181.20 drivers? How does that work? Did you install 181 drivers then click cancel when the 182nd was 1/5 done installing?

You realize that whatever company put out these drivers for whatever piece of hardware you have pays people to help customers with problems right?

We call this tech support.

This is a software development forum. Just pick up the darn phone and call NVidia or Microsoft. Microsoft helped me out once when I had trouble with a Voodoo3. They know what they're doing.

Assuming you have a desktop and not a laptop:

If you have an NVidia card. Google "nvidia drivers" and you can download the latest from there.

If you have an ATI care, Google "ati drivers" and you can download the latest from there.

If you have a laptop it is not typical that you can update drivers from the chipset manufacturer. But for desktop graphics cards that is the preferred path.

Nah i am trying to enable DDI version to say 9EX instead of 10.
I guess nobody knows what this discssion is about anymore, its been a while since vista came out. You guys don't know about this:

' Direct3D 9Ex (known internally during Windows Vista development as 9.0L or 9.L): allows full access to the new capabilities of WDDM (if WDDM drivers are installed) while maintaining compatibility for existing Direct3D applications. The Windows Aero user interface relies on D3D 9Ex. "

What do you want to do with it? When you just want some nice glass-effects or window previews, the DWM is the solution.

Something like this is just possible using Direct2D + DWM:

You can do stuff like this with just one call to:

HRESULT ExtendIntoClientAll(HWND hwnd){   // Negative margins have special meaning to DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea.   // Negative margins create the "sheet of glass" effect, where the client area   //  is rendered as a solid surface without a window border.   MARGINS margins = {-1};   HRESULT hr = S_OK;   // Extend frame across whole window.   hr = DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea(hwnd,&margins);   if (SUCCEEDED(hr))   {      //do more things   }   return hr;}

You need to include dwmapi.h.

See the Windows SDK documentation for more information.

That's interesting, I've never heard that.
