Paul, the German "psychic" octopus, has predicted Spain to win tonight apparently.

Oh wow, I didn't know Paul as being an oracle. I must have seen him upon my last visit in Oberhausen, but I didn't know *that*.

You have obviously missed "The future is wild".

And you must have missed that Paul has 8 brains more than you. Effectively, an octopus is a Brain Creature with a negligible amount of some other ingredients.

...

!! Crap, what am I bulling, of course he must be wrong this time

Hup, Holland, Hup, go for vice champion *ducks and leaves the room*

So you're scared? Good. [grin]

In any case, looks like Bayern Munich's successful season continues at the World Cup.

He has supposedly been correct in 70% of cases but I personally think he's wrong on this one - given Germany's performance so far, they should beat Spain quite decisively I reckon.

In fact he got all of Germany's Euro 2008 games right, except Spain-Germany, so surely he just mixed up the Euro and WC game ;)

Seriously: My guess is, whoever scores first tonight (Could be both teams) will win the semi and the cup.

Low can win this game easily. He only has to put a very agile defender policing David Villa. With a guy constantly harassing Villa I don't see spain scoring any goal.
Harassing Villa will open the game up for Torres. And if not him, well, every Spanish player is capable of scoring. Pique scored for Barcelona against Bayern-Munich in the UEFA tournament. Spain plays better as a team than Argentina did. I think Germany will have to score early, otherwise, the Spanish game of "keep away" will keep them out of the finals.

I'm calling this one for Spain. Germany didn't show the requisite urgency early enough, and now with a 1-0 lead I just don't see Spain surrendering an equalizer. Good run, Germany. See you in 4 years.

Congrats Spain on the historic final.

I have to say Germany's showing was pretty disappointing; just didn't show enough aggression or desire to dominate the possession. There were so many potential moments especially in the last ten minutes when they could have evened things up, but without that drive to control the ball, they just got out-maneuvered.

Oh well. Maybe we'll cream Uruguay and redeem things. If not... there's always 2014 [grin]

Congratulations to Spain, a fabulous team. Looking forward to an entertaining final match.
Congratulations Spain! The Spanish team played incredibly well, they totally deserved to win.

Greetings,
Andre (from Germany)

P.S.: Being a German studying in the Netherlands, I had sooooo hoped for a final Germany - Netherlands :-(

Clearly the standout performance of this tournament is Paul the octopus [wink]

Interesting fact: if Spain win the world cup, New Zealand will be the only unbeaten side in the 2010 world cup. [grin]
