Hello all, I was hoping someone could offer me some advice on what college to attend for a degree in computer science. I remember reading a post that listed the top 10 computer science colleges. I would like to focus in game design and i heard a few colleges even offer a degree in game design. Any information anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. If you require any information from me to give me better advice please contact me at soultrainfunkmaster@yahoo.com Thanks so Much! BananaAssassin

Game Schools ->

game programming degrees (degree of science in Real-Time Interactive simulation)
DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond WA is the best.

FullSail in Florida is also good, but only has 2yr degrees
not sure of the website.

As for gettig a good CS degree, its not as important as showing off what you know. For every "assaignment" in college make a game, or try to anyway. In your spare time, make games. I doesnt matter if they are clones, its the experience that matters more.

Hmmm, I remember that post, and the only colleges I remember that were on the list were UC Berkely, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, University of Texas at Austin, Rice, and the University of Michigan.

Basically, if you go to any decent-sized public school or a good private school, you can get a great degree in CS.

Another way to determine how good the CS program will be is to check the % of students with that major.

I went to a school (University of Texas at Dallas) that was nearly 75% CS students...so the CS department was the best-funded dept, and consequently there was a wide variety of good classes offered.

I go to UC San Diego, and get a kick ass education for the money. I''m comp sci...as far as game design, you''re not going to get that here...but you will be forced to get a broad education and be forced to learn how to think...this is the best part of a good college education. I am working on game design in my free time, as it has been an interest since 5th grade that I recently started pursuing again. anyway, I really recomend the CSE dept here at UCSD. Good luck with your search.
