Team name:
Blockwork Games

Project name:
To be determined after discussing project plans with the team.

Brief description:
Currently there is no specific style or category of game chosen. My goal with this project is to get a team together and learn how to create a small game. I want everyone to be a little involved in every aspect of the development process so that we can get the most knowledge and experience out of it. This game is strictly being made as a learning process and will hopefully be a good foundation for any future projects the members may choose. The project chosen will most likely be along the lines of a small platformer or puzzle game, nothing big! Once the team is assembled we will chose a team name and project name and then plan out what our project goals are.

Target aim:
The resulting game will be completely free for anyone to download. Source code will be available for the chance that others may learn from it or even provide feedback.

Compensation:
The only thing anyone will gain from this is experience and knowledge! :)

Technology:
My goal is to be able to make a game that runs on windows, linux, and mac but this will be limited to what OSs we have available during development. My main focus will be linux and followed by windows. The game will be written in C++ and OpenGL. Other languages and APIs will be determined as the project is started. The artists' (both graphic and audio) tools will be up to what the artists are comfortable with (would be great for them to try out free alternatives though! GIMP, blender...etc). Subversion will be used for source/resource version control.

Talent needed:
I am looking for team members in the EST (eastern standard time) timezone or in one of the neighbouring ones. Also, they will need to be able to type fluently in english. This won't be a large project so I am estimating only a few hours would need to be dedicated per week. if the member wants to spend more and it won't negatively effect other team members and the flow of the project, that would be fine too.

0 Developers - Positions filled
I am looking for three developers who have a little experience with OpenGL and hopefully a decent understanding of vectors and working in 3d. C++ experience is a must, pointers, references, linked lists are all simple concepts to the member. The focus is learning OpenGL and game development and not C++. Requirements are experience coding and an IDE (eclipse is free!).

0 Composer - Position filled
I am looking for one audio composer to take the style of the game we choose to make and create sound effects and background music. Since there won't likely be a lot of sounds an emphasis is made towards learning new techniques and creating a polished audio atmosphere. Requirements are familiarity with at least one audio composition program and past experience creating music (even if it's just for fun).

0 Modelers/Artists - Positions filled
I am looking for two 3d modelers and artists who will create the 3d models we will use and will create all textures and concept art. The artists must be able to work together to produce models/art that fit in together. Requirements are experience in a 3d modeling program and a program to create textures/art.

Team structure:
Alexander G. (Project Lead/Management and Developer)

Hopefully I can fill in this space as we go along :)

Carlos M. (Developer)
Christos P. (Developer)
Björn E (Developer)
David V. (Composer)
Chad S. (Modeler/Artist)
Mike Y. (Modeler/Artist)

Website:
Currently no website, but later I want to link to the repository page.

Contacts:
gamedev@implode.ca
Please let me know role what you are interested in and a little about your experience and I will get back to you with questions. :)

Previous Work by Team:
None.

Additional Info:
This project will be distributed with an open source license (had not been chosen yet). Further details will be discussed when the team is assembled. All software used to create the resulting game must be obtained and used legally.

Feedback:
ANY - Please let me know if you like my goals, have any thoughts to improve it, or have found a con/flaw in the project.

Still looking for more members! We are going to get started soon regardless if the team is filled so it's best if you join sooner than later :) Even if you think you might not qualify feel free to contact me anyway. Maybe we can work something out.

We are still in need of a developer and a 3D Modeler/Artist. Don't be afraid to apply! It's going to be a fun project and you will learn a lot about making a game while being part of a team :)
