php mkdir won't work.

I'm trying to make a directory to hold user uploads for their projects. I need to put the project folder inside the projects directory so I won't clutter my root directory with all of the project directories.

I created the projects directory using my websites file manager but when I try to create the project directory it does nothing.

Here is what I did:

 mkdir('/projects/MJIXFHB3MQ');

Why does that not work?

I think the problem is with your preceding slash. Try the same command without it.

Alright it's working now but I actually think it was my hosting service. It would not let me log in to the file manager at the time I was having the problem but now it works fine.
