Hello,
I have a big project and my friend is helping me with it, but I haven't got any kind of code repository set up, so copy/paste for every change one of us makes is a pain.
I'd like to get Team Foundation Server working, but I have zero experience with database servers and stuff like that, so I'd appreciate if someone could give me a couple of pointers what to download to get everything working (do I need a server or does VS2010 already has one etc..?).
How to get Visual Studio 2010 Team Foundation Server working
I question how you legitimately obtained Team Foundation Server.
In time the project grows, the ignorance of its devs it shows, with many a convoluted function, it plunges into deep compunction, the price of failure is high, Washu's mirth is nigh.
I'm sure a call to your local Microsoft support center will be able to help you with that.
Since I'm a student I have access to MS DreamSpark.
As I did some research based on the nice replies, I now see that TFS is shipped with the Ultimate edition, so I guess the Team Foundation server thing is out of the question (if we stay at legal things).
So, can you help me __now__?
What are my alternatives?

Last time I looked at dreamspark they didn't offer enterprise editions of visual studio, nor the team server foundation software.
Use subversion, git, or one of the other free source control toolsets.
Subversion with tortisesvn is trivial to setup and you can create repositories easily enough.
