Brief description:

I'm basically looking to create a prototype of a concept I have in mind. Simply to experience it and see if it's actually got potential and if it would actually be fun to play.

The idea is a turn based fighting game like the fight sequences of Final fantasy. To keep things on the simple side ( I like keeping it simple ), I'm shooting for the same style as Final Fantasy 6 ( or 3 in the states if you prefer ). So fixed camera, simple characters, VERY limited animations.

Not sure if I have to explain the fighting system in final fantasy as I'm pretty sure every gamer has at least experienced the same type of turn based RPG battle system. Ask questions and I'll elaborate on the project.

Target aim:

This would only be a prototype project to see if the concept is actually worth pursuing further.

Compensation:

I would be willing to pay for the right coder. But mind you I'm not a big rich business and only have limited monetary resources...Especially now as I'm planning on going back to school in the fall...

Technology:

Not too sure for this one because I'm not a coder and don't know the limits and ease of use of each scripting language. I would assume Flash would be enough for the needs of the project though. Even though C++ would be nice, so that if the game proves itself as worthy of pursuing further, it would be simpler to expand on what we already have.

Talent needed:

Programmer: someone dependable and who has the same vision as me is what I'm looking for. Someone who doesn't over-complicate things and doesn't expect everything to be AAA level as this is only a prototype and I'm putting speed of production before making it all pretty looking. Also someone who's actually completed projects would be an asset.

Team structure:

Only person on team right now would be me. I'm an artist. I do everything from 2D ( concept, texture, animation ) to 3D ( model, animation, rig, lighting, etc ). I also have 3 published ( casual ) games with my name in the credits on Big Fish. I've developped the idea so that it requires very minimal art at this stage for speed of completion. So no other artist needed as of yet that I can see. I have a portfolio website at www.jrlosier.com but it's all very old stuff from 2008, I just haven't updated it at all since then...probably should...

As for programmers, we'll start with one, and see if we need more as we go.

Additional Info:

I don't want this project to be too serious, even though it's a "fighting game" I want to keep the mood light. Like something "The Behemoth" guys would be putting out. I hope I didn't come off as too strict, because I'm a chill kinda guy and am very dedicated to the job at hand when it gets going.

The code is open source (GPLv2). If you're just looking to throw together a prototype, maybe this could give your programmer a nice head start? You'll have to read the GPLv2 license for details, but I believe you can legally work on this code and make modifications as you please, but if you distribute it your modifications must also be made open source under GPLv2. When you get to the final product, if you don't want to have that code open source then you'll have to start development from scratch then and won't be allowed to use any of this code, nor any modifications you made to this code (as it will also be under the GPLv2 license).

Just thought I'd offer that possibility. Good luck!.
