Lone Wolf Audiogame Technical Demo
Brief description:
The project aims to create a small, but functional, audiogame enginethat is capable of managing 4-5 separate audio track (mainly 3: narrator, effects and music) and letting the gamer choose between a few options at theend of each narrated paragraph. To understand the mechanic of the originalgame, including character sheet and rules for combat, you can visit www.projectaon.org,which collects a few of the Lone Wolf books.
The project itself was born a month ago orso. I took the first 4-5 paragraphs from the first Lone Wolf book to producethe technical demo. The paragraphs have already been narrated by a talentedspeaker, and some sound effects and soundtrack is already present, but will beredone on a later stage in our Swiss studio. If you are curious about thefirst, I can send a demo on request.
I already contacted the rights owner forLone Wolf, and he is interested in the idea, so there is a chance of eitheracquiring the licence for the series and/or entering in a partnership withthem.
Target aim:
The short term plan is making a technical demo that can support atleast one audio file (narration, sounds and music all mixed) and some choicesvia buttons or numpad, preferably running under Windows. It could be done inFlash. The ultimate goal, though, is to make the application available for awide range of media – I think that such a game would be beneficial for theblind and partially sighted community (integrating vocal commands), and wouldbe fun to play on a smartphone while commuting on the train.
Compensation:
When the final audiogame engine will be ready, each contributor willhave their part of the cake. I will put that in writing if you like. I willconsider also a small payment upon completion of the demo, or an exchange offavours – I am a fairly good composer, orchestrator, sound designer andengineer if you ever need one.
Technology:
The demo should be a small application, capable of loading audio(preferably a few separate tracks) and allowing the user to choose between afew option. The combat sequence will require some consideration.
For the long term, there are two aims. Thefirst aim is to create a modular, intuitive game engine and a GUI for theinexperienced game designers, where a designer can build his game without toomuch programming experience. The game engine itself should be portable todifferent systems. The idea is that, when the product is good enough, theengine can be licensed for use to other audiogame houses as well.
The second is to continue publishingaudiogame adventures, through collaborations with publishers of gamebooks or throughour own writing staff.

Talent needed:
We are looking for either a programmer or somebody who knows Flashinside-out for the first technical demo. We believe in the project and we candiscuss some compensation. I am not too fussy about your location, but livingin or near London (or in Tessin, Switerland, where our main studio is) would bea plus in case of meetings.
Teamstructure:
There are three people, apart from me, currently involved in theproject:
-An audio engineer who is currently working at RSI, theItalian-speaking branch of the national Swiss radio
-A narrator from the US, who already gave me the first paragraphs and choices
-A brilliant composer from London
I am able to compose the music and put together soundeffects as well, but I strongly believe that the product will be moreinteresting if it’s not a solo-project. This also allows me to step into the(uncomfortable) shoes of project manager without having to worry about otherthings.
Website:
Due to the technical demo being made over copyrighted material, I wasasked by the owner of the rights not to put online the content already made. However Iwill send, on request, an mp3 example of the first paragraph of the book. If you feel like listening to some of themusic I have made with my associates, please visit our website at De•Pict. The composer for this project has his own productions on the Soundeck website.

Please email me or leave me a private message here on GameDev, along with your location and possibly phone number (if you don't live in Papua New Guinea I'll try and call you back).
Previous Work byTeam:
All the people involved in the project have experience in themusic/audio sector, but none in game programming. You can listen to some workfrom De•Pict at www.depictmusic.co.uk, or you can have a look at the companyour composer works for (www.soundeck.com).

Additional Info:
In case this develops further, I will also need a talented writer for a new audiogame, instead of using existing material.
Feedback:
Any. I would appreciate any consideration, insults, or anything between.
