I´ve been discovering gamedev.net a lot and in my mind there are so many programmers looking for artist, are there really more programmers than artists?

Possibly, most of the subforums here are technical in nature and artists do have other places to hang out aswell, Thus most subforums here are dominated by programmers, the only real exceptions are Help Wanted (Which is dominated by "Clueless Idea Guys" and the 4 subforums on the Creative Side (where writers, musicians, animators, etc hang out)

There are definitely more programmers than artists on the forum as a whole. Artists are mainly attracted to forums with art in the name or whose central purpose is displaying and discussing art. ConceptArt.org and DeviantArt are two such examples.
I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

in my opinion, when i looked in help wanted, there were more artist wanted than programmers. I think that´s because in smaller projects the project leader often is the lead programmer too.
