So, obviously I want to make a game. I've got most of my design ideas all nailed down but lack a mind for programming. That said, I've been looking at RPG Maker VX Ace more and more and believe, with extensive changes, I can build my entire game within in.

My question to you all is whether or not you think my game would be taken seriously, being as I intend to use RPG Maker VX as the engine? I intend to have entirely custom graphics, sounds, music, and potentially even cinematics.

The biggest reason I was thinking of using RPG Maker is because it's something I already know pretty well. It's also because I just can't seem to understand programming. I looked into the unity engine but it looks pretty complex to learn...

I've been thinking about that chair analogy and I suppose, whatever engine I go with, it'll be the quality of my game that sells it (or doesn't) in the end. We'll have to see how things go.
