Hello, help to deal with the source game FEAR, can someone has already done this? And I wanted to ask if the compiled file extract, if there is no program decompressor?
FEAR source code
Okay, lots of things.
That file is not what you think it is. It has been floating around the Internet for a while, but as far as I can tell it isn't licensed for separate release. Since you didn't actually know how to open the file to see inside, I'll assume you didn't know that. I'm removing the file. They did release their entire set of modding tools, which can be downloaded here. Again, that is not the game source, but a tool to help experienced developers create mods to the game.
On to the lesser items:
RAR is a compression format. You are probably already familiar with .zip files. There are many other compression formats out there, .rar, .gz, .lha, .7z, and so on. Free tools such as 7-zip can handle quite a few of the major compression formats with ease. (Personally I love 7-zip, it currently handles over 30 common and less-common compression formats, and it is open source.)
That source code will not help in learning how to make a game. It is only partial code to part of a game client, it does not have anything to do with the actual game engine. Even if it did, a game of that size is not very useful for learning.
If you want to look at the source code to big games, there are plenty of legitimate sources out there. The Doom 3 Source Code comes to mind. Or you can look to the thousands of open source games out there, all include source. I recommend you start with tiny games for learning purposes.
Looking at the source code of completed games is only of limited use. You need to actually write games. Fortunately this site can help with that. There are several recommended projects. For example, in the site's articles section there are articles like this one that offer a few ways you can grow your skills by making games.
Oh no, I'm not going to write my game, I want to see if you can add the parameters of the models out there, effects, animations to the already existing ones? Change their version, in general it's a long story, I tried the original database first FEAR add weapons and opponents of the Perseus mandate. But they do not produce the animation, the effects are not visible, and the compiled files GameClient.dll GameServer.dll and ClientFX.fxd have a different size and a different version than the original FEAR. So I want to look into the source code but I can not make out because programming has never worked ((help?
And that no one can even than that to help? I can not find anyone to help even than that.
