Thank you for doing this survey. It was very interested and must have taken a lot of time and effort to set up.

I'm glad you like it. happy.png The set-up was actually pretty easy, though it did take a few hours. What has been challenging is figuring out how to put the data into charts and put them online for people to see. Here are the ones I've got written up so far:

Each link in this section is for a "Potentially Likable/Favorite" pair of questions. I will add more as I get them made. The "Percentage of Time" questions I'm going to do last.

PvP Type:

Item Exchange Type:

(notes: Data seems to show three archetypes: Likes everything, Prefers local/realistic, Prefers global/convenient)

Monster Drop Type:

(notes: The "favorite" question of this pair specifically asked what should be the most common drop in the game, the data does not say what item types people love as rare drops. There were several write-ins expressing the importance that monsters and humanoid opponents only drop loot they would logically have, e.g. animals should not drop gear, money, technological crafting items, or body parts the animal doesn't have.)

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

And the big final one! *Does a faceplant* Praise be to the 1/3 of respondents whose percentages actually added up to 100, with or without the write-in category! You all get a gold star for making me _not_ want to give up on this and go play Rock Band instead!

I stripped all the re-averaging data out of this version because there was so much. Ironically, 4 hours of math to do the re-averaging resulted in a change of 2% or less in all categories. But yeah. The tldr is, "Solo or small group PvE" kicked everything else's butt, being twice as popular as the second place category. Sorry PvP fans. Group PvP, group PvE, sim/crafting, and chatting/posting/roleplaying all tied approximately for 2nd place.

Perhaps the most shocking result was that hardly anyone likes 1v1 PvP. If I were a marketing adviser to an MMO development team I would be telling that team, either go for group PvP or don't bother with PvP at all, because if you have only 1v1 PvP it won't please enough players to be worth the development cost.
