Tim Sweeney, Epic's CEO, has been talking about the “metaverse” since 2016. His 2019 SIGGRAPH talk (https://www.gamedev.net/news/tim-sweeney-on-the-state-of-the-games-industry-social-gaming-and-the-metaverse-r1089/) indicates he's still serious about it.
But so far, there's little sign of it happening at Epic. Fortnite got a level editor so users can create Fortnite levels. Is anyone seeing signs of something more general from Epic? A UE4 metaverse engine?
Who at Epic other than Sweeney is working to make the Metaverse happen?
