Intro
Hey everyone! I’m Cayenne, the game artist for our project. Serve It (project name) — is a visual novel meets restaurant simulation game, rich in narrative and atmosphere.

Looking for
We are looking for a UI/UX artist to join our team and make the game together. You’ll be helping to design and polish the game’s interface and overall user experience, playing a key role in shaping how players interact with the game. Since the game is really screen heavy, we’re looking for someone with a strong eye for visual design, layout, and clarity to ensure a smooth and engaging player journey. Experience with motion graphics is a big plus!

Compensation
[Volunteer → Paid Contract] We are looking for someone to join us on a volunteer basis, with the intention to move to a paid contract once we secure funding. To show our commitment, we’re offering a £50 upfront payment once you complete an UI art piece for the game. This isn’t just a token, it’s a clear sign that we’re serious about building this game together. We're looking for someone who’s excited to collaborate long-term.

Game
(Main character's Name/ You) just wake up in an unfamiliar place with no memories, but, no escape! In a dimly lit setting, ghouls and ghosts sit eagerly, knives and forks in hand, waiting to feast. And your job? To deliver bizarre dishes straight into their mouths! As you're reluctantly dragged into the work, you'll meet all sorts of strangely shaped characters. Maybe… just maybe… you'll uncover the secrets behind this unusual restaurant!

About the Team/Studio
We're a small, passionate team of three working on an indie game project. Since January, we’ve been developing Serve It, and we're aiming to complete a proper prototype by December and begin showcasing it at some game events next year! We’re working remotely but ideally looking for someone UK-based to make the most of potential in-person event opportunities.

We’re planning to attend game events across the UK to showcase the project, and we’d love for you to join us if you’re up for it! Our goal is to launch the game demo on platforms like itch.io or Steam in December, and we’re fully committed to seeing the project through to completion.

Studio Pillars/Beliefs
We’re still in the process of choosing a name for our studio, and we’d love for you to be part of that decision. We see every team member as a core part of this project, and your voice matters just as much as anyone else's. It would be great if you’re interested in growing with a close-knit team and building something meaningful together. Also. we don’t use generative AI in our process, we value and respect the creativity and craft of every artist and developer on the team.

Game Pillars/Beliefs
Sense of Satisfaction
Successfully completing tasks, especially during intense, high-pressure moments like peak service, can give players a strong sense of achievement.

Engaging Storyline
Since the core gameplay loop can be repetitive, a compelling, evolving narrative helps maintain player interest. Gradually introducing new features through more challenging levels is essential, but pairing this with a story influenced by the player's performance adds further depth. A branching plot or character-driven narrative encourages replicability and emotional investment in the game world.

Cognitive Overload Challenge
The game presents players with a continuous stream of dynamic information, order details, dish-specific requirements, unexpected events, etc. Players must react swiftly, balancing time management, multitasking, and decision-making under pressure. This offers a stimulating challenge that tests and develops the player’s ability to manage cognitive load.
