Coreball – a one-button browser timing game, looking for feel feedback

Hi everyone — I’m Ren, helping document and review the interaction design of Coreball, a small browser game built around a single action: launch a pin into a rotating core without colliding with the pins already attached.

The game is playable here: https://coreball.gg/

What I’m specifically trying to evaluate is whether the timing window feels readable rather than arbitrary. The early stages keep the rotation easy to follow, while later patterns ask the player to anticipate spacing and rotation changes. There is no install or account requirement, so a complete playtest can be very short.

I would especially appreciate feedback on three points:

  1. Does the first click make the rule immediately clear?

  2. When a shot fails, does the collision feel understandable and fair?

  3. Is the restart loop quick enough to encourage another attempt?

I’m also interested in how it feels on touch versus mouse input, because a one-button game can expose even small differences in response and visual feedback. Thanks to anyone who gives it a try.

Answers:

  1. Absolutely clear.

  2. When lines collide, all is fair. But when the balls do... damn =) Maybe consider making some lines without ending balls, either increase the amount of lines with balls as the level grows; the arrows can be balls-free in the first few levels (maybe, just my first spontaneous thoughts if you do not mind).

  3. YES. Very enganging! I spent a fair amount of time, it wins my heart immediately. Great game che!
