[Debian Woody] Install Problems

I have trouble installing a woody (december 2001) : i boot from the cd, chose the 2.8 disk #4 (as i have a HTP 366 controller), it boots, no problem, i config all, i set the two partitions, i configure the network, i install the main modules, and i install LILO in the MBR. The problem is : I can''t create a boot disk (error), and when i reboot, i cant boot on linux...(i did the same way with Potato r3 without problems

Sounds to me like LILO didn''t install correctly. Maybe try booting with the CDROM, but booting onto your hard drive partition. It should tell you how to do this when you boot up.

If my Linux Partition is hde6 what is the command line i should type on the boot: prompt (after booting from my CD Rom ?)

I''m not certain anymore, but I think it''s jus root=/dev/hde6. I could be wrong, but it can''t hurt to try

hum

root=/dev/hde6 makes an error (cannot find root image)
and i tried as explained : rescue root=/dev/hde6 and it goes in Kernel Panic when searching the root disk :p

Do you have a separate partition for your /boot directory? If so, you''ll need root=/dev/hd**.

No, all my partition is on /dev/hde6...

That very well could be the problem. While it is not impossible to have more than four IDE devices, it very rarely is a reality... Are you sure it''s hde? Maybe it''s hdd?
