Hi. I'm making a map maker for my 3D engine, and I'm looking for a little reassurance. I've drawn my inspiration from many sources. I have looked at gmax, q3radiant, MaxEd and Worldcraft, and emulated many of the functions of these top quality programs.
I have the following features:
- A fully working BSP system, which is set in motion when a change is made to the environment,
- Seven types of primitive, cylinders, cones, geospheres, cuboids, tetrahedrons, pyramids and planes all of which have their own creator function, which contains an algorithm for each,
- Full translation, rotation and scaling functions for any object,
- A four-viewport system, on one form, where each viewport can be controlled and moved independently. Each viewport can have one of the following views: 3D Textured, 3D Flat Shaded, 3D Wireframe, Top, Bottom, Right, Left, Front and Back,
- A centralized Object structure, which all objects such as cuboids, cylinders and lights are stored in, where each object has it's own properties and ones which are common to all,
- A Worldcraft-type movement system, where the mouse is captured in place in the centre of the child window while movement is performed,
- The ability to set the colour of any object when it is created.
