I''d like to see an article about making a game that can use different 3D APIs (Glide, OpenGL, D3D) and also being easily portable to different systems. (kind of a long sign off --- Humanity i love you because you would rather black the boots of success than enquire whose soul dangles from his watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both parties and because you unflinchingly applaud all songs containing the words country home and mother when sung at the old howard Humanity i love you because when you''re hard up you pawn your intelligence to buy a drink and when you''re flush pride keeps you from the pawn shops and because you are continually committing nuisances but more especially in your own house Humanity i love you because you are perpetually putting the secret of life in your pants and forgetting it''s there and sitting down on it and because you are forever making poems in the lap of death Humanity i hate you - e e cummings

kinda long sign off?
I don''t have much experience with the APIs, and correct me if I''m wrong, but I don''t think D3D (or any component of DirectX) can be ported, as it''s created by Microsoft, so of course it''s platform dependent. An OpenGL article about portability with Windows and Linux (maybe even Mac?) would be nice. Don''t yell at me if something like that already exists, I haven''t looked yet, I''m just responding to the post..

There was an article on making the project on multiple OS''s on gamasutra about two weeks ago.

saxon''s post is what I meant. While OGL works on all platforms at the moment, I''d like to get some experience in making something for other APIs as well.

I''ll check out the gamasutra article and gameos.

a total stranger one black day
knocked living the hell out of me--

who found forgiveness hard because
my(as it happened)self he was

-but now that fiend and i are such
immortal friends the other''s each
