What is required: Working knowledge of C/C++ using Win32 and DirectX. Needs to know the fundamentals of OOP. In fact, you should know what Design Patterns are. You don''t actually need to know Win32 and DirectX, but it would help. About the project: It''s an RTS set in the WW2 era. It will have the same interface as common RTSs. Fundamentally, controls are the same. However, the game will be more focused on strategies and tactics. It will be more dramatic and will play out in a slower pace than other games. That''s because like in real wars, people do miss their targets. Your troops will work in squads, flanking the enemy whenever possible, laying cover fire and taking cover. You can control your troops but they do their own thing when you''re not there. So unlike most RTSs, your troops don''t stand in the middle of the battle taking fire like a fool. Battles can take a lot of time, like in real life. This also gives the oppurtunity to send reinforcements, call airstrikes and everything. I have a brief design doc that I''m willing to give out freely. The Team: Currently, there''s only one programmer, me. We also have a couple of artists, a designer and a webmaster. However, we do not have a website. None of us are paid by the way. How we will work together: Basically, we will not use any source control software because I plan work to be done in seperate modules. We might use FTPs to share our files and upload changes to our modules. Each module will have an owner and only their owners can (or should) make changes to them. Since the project is heavily modularised, you will have to be very familiar to reusability concepts as well as OOP. I plan to use certain modules for future projects. I have long contemplated the usefulness of another programmer and well, I believe that I can''t do it all myself. Currently, I have a graphics wrapper done up (it''s a 2D game btw). I''m in the middle of the network module and will start work on the GUI module soon. Note that we won''t start work on the game until the base modules are finalised. Also, I doubt if I get someone with such qualifications to help me for free so I''m willing to accept programmers who are familiar with concepts such as inheritance, polymorphism and other OOP stuff.
