Hi! Just a general question: How the hell does the implementation of MODs into games work? Do they make use of a game scripting engine or are they compiled and somehow adress the engine? Just wondering what you have to care about if you want to make a game that should support MODs or Mutators... Yours, Indeterminatus --si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses--

Don''t call them MODs with all capitals - it gets them mixed up with the sound file format

How they are implemented varies from game to game. There is no single right answer. Some are scripted, some use dlls, some use virtual machines which fall in between the two, and so on. Probably the key thing across all systems is to allow hooks to link externally-created code to, which execute when certain events take place.

There''s more info on mutators here, and I''m guessing it''s Unreal-specific terminology as I''ve never heard it before.
