Enhancing DirectX Testing with AMD Smoldr

Briefing

AMD has introduced Smoldr, an open-source command-line tool designed to streamline the testing of DirectX 12 HLSL shaders. By enabling developers to run shaders from simple text scripts, Smoldr eliminates the need for C++ coding, which can often be a barrier for many in the graphics programming field.

This tool allows for the compilation of shaders, creation of resources and pipelines, and dispatching of compute or raytracing workloads, all from a user-friendly interface. For developers focused on graphics, this means faster iterations and more straightforward testing processes, ultimately enhancing workflow and productivity.

“Smoldr makes shader testing accessible without C++ complexity.”
