Dear ImGui v1.92.9 Released
Dear ImGui v1.92.9 is a maintenance-heavy release with one important behavior change for anyone using numeric widgets. Scalar inputs now default to non-live editing, so typing into Drag/Slider/InputScalar controls no longer pushes partial values into the backing variable on every keystroke. That should make transaction-style editing cleaner, but it can affect code that relied on intermediate updates or on workarounds like IsItemDeactivatedAfterEdit().
The release also continues the library’s cleanup of old names and APIs. Several obsolete symbols are now commented out or removed from normal use, including ImGuiTreeNodeFlags_SpanTextWidth, SetColorEditOptions(), ImGuiDragDropFlags_SourceAutoExpirePayload, and ImDrawData::CmdListsCount. If you are maintaining older code or bindings, this is a good time to run with IMGUI_DISABLE_OBSOLETE_FUNCTIONS and catch stale calls before they turn into harder failures.
On the feature side, Dear ImGui adds explicit LiveEdit flags for text and scalar widgets, with text staying live by default and scalars defaulting to deferred commit. Popups now return a bool when opened, InputText gets a configurable caret thickness, and the Enter-keep-active mode has been adjusted so Ctrl+Enter and Shift+Enter can still deactivate. The tables system was also reworked so column identity and .ini state survive topology changes more reliably, which matters for UIs that add, remove, or regenerate columns at runtime.
There are also smaller but practical fixes around window focus/move behavior, double-click collapse handling, and table header clipping. For...
“Typing '123' in an integer field would output successively 1, 12 then 123.”
- what
- Dear ImGui v1.92.9 changes scalar widget editing to defer writes by default, adds LiveEdit flags, and updates tables, popups, and InputText behavior.
- who
- Dear ImGui / ocornut and contributors maintaining the core library and backends.
- when
- Released as v1.92.9, following v1.92.8; the changelog also references fixes and deprecations from 1.90.7, 1.90.9, 1.89.8, and 1.92.0.
- impact
- Projects using Drag/Slider/InputScalar may need to adjust code that depended on live intermediate values; older API names may need migration.
Useful fixes, but one default behavior change may break assumptions.
