Arc Raiders generates $114.9m during Nexon's Q2, sells an additional 800,000 units
Nexon’s second quarter was lifted by Arc Raiders and MapleStory, even as operating income slipped on higher live-service costs. Arc Raiders alone brought in ¥18.3 billion ($114.9 million) in the quarter, and total sales climbed by 800,000 units to 16.3 million. Since launch, the game has generated more than ¥88 billion ($552.8 million), making it one of Embark Studios’ most important commercial wins.
The company said the quarter’s margin pressure came from a shift toward revenue-linked costs, including creator fees, user acquisition, cloud services, and software service fees. Revenue reached ¥121.1 billion ($760.8 million), up 2% year over year, while operating income fell 17% to ¥31.3 billion ($196.6 million). Net income rose sharply to ¥29.6 billion ($185.9 million), helped by a much smaller FX loss than a year ago.
For developers, the interesting part is how Nexon is framing Arc Raiders as proof that a new IP can break through in Western markets when paired with leaner production and global live-service support. The company is already lining up its largest content update since launch for October, with more catalysts expected in the second half of the year. Nexon also pointed to continued strength in MapleStory, while Dungeon & Fighter and FC came in softer than expected.
Looking ahead, Nexon expects Q3 revenue between ¥120.7 billion and ¥133.4 billion, with operating income forecast to swing anywhere from a 40% decline to a 14% drop. The publisher also has four new games planned for 2026, including Arad: Idle RPG, the mobile version of Dave the Diver, Azur...
