Gears of War Launches Fifth Year of “Never Fight Alone” Suicide Prevention

Briefing

Gears of War is renewing its Never Fight Alone suicide prevention campaign for a fifth year, timed to World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10. The Coalition continues its partnership with Crisis Text Line, with 1% of net revenue from its products supporting the organization’s free, confidential, 24/7 mental health and crisis intervention services.

The campaign now reaches beyond awareness messaging into direct monetization hooks. A 2026 T-shirt and hoodie featuring artwork by Luke Preece are available through the Xbox Game Studios Shop, and Gears of War: E-Day will launch a Never Fight Alone Charity Bundle on October 6. That bundle includes a character skin, weapon skin set, emblem, banner, and icon, with all net revenue donated to Crisis Text Line.

For developers, this is a useful example of how a live franchise can connect brand identity, community engagement, and charitable fundraising without bolting on a separate campaign. The stated impact is concrete: the partnership has already supported more than 16,000 Crisis Text Line conversations, and Crisis Text Line has expanded its reach through a new partnership with Aquí Estoy across 20 Spanish-speaking countries.

The broader takeaway is that in-game cosmetics and limited-edition merchandise can be used as recurring fundraising vehicles when the cause aligns with the game’s themes and audience. The exact performance of the new bundle hasn’t been disclosed, but the structure is clear: launch-window content, merch drops, and a long-running charity partner working in tandem.

“The Gears of War community has helped more than 16,000 conversations happen.”
