LunarG Releases Vulkan SDK 1.4.335.0

Briefing

The release of Vulkan SDK 1.4.335.0 marks a significant step forward for developers working on macOS, particularly those utilizing Apple Silicon. The inclusion of KosmicKrisp allows Vulkan applications to run natively on M1, M2, and M3 Macs, which is crucial for graphics programmers aiming for optimal performance on these devices. Although still in alpha, this feature is bundled with the SDK to encourage community testing and feedback.

In addition to KosmicKrisp, this SDK version introduces several new extensions, improved validation tools, and expanded documentation for layer settings. Developers should take note of the Legacy Detection feature, which helps identify deprecated Vulkan entry points, facilitating codebase maintenance. With these updates, the SDK not only enhances performance but also streamlines the development process for Vulkan applications across all platforms.

“Happy rendering, and we can’t wait to hear how KosmicKrisp performs!”
