Righting old wrongs: MobyGames on letting developers claim games they weren't credited for
GamesIndustry.biz reports that MobyGames is pushing beyond preservation into a more developer-facing service with MobyGames Professional, a paid tier now in beta and slated for a 1.0 launch in autumn. The new system lets industry users claim their public profiles, attach verified personal details, and build portfolio pages tied to their credit history.
That matters because credit gaps are still common in games, and MobyGames says thousands of developers have already claimed pages. The company says the claim flow does not let users rewrite structural credit data; instead, it uses a human verification process so people can correct personal details and present their work more clearly without opening the door to fake claims.
The portfolio side is aimed at making those verified credits more useful in hiring. Developers can add screenshots, reels, descriptions, links, and specific contribution notes, while employers can use the database to spot relevant experience faster. MobyGames is also testing job-application workflows and MobyGames ID integration with studios behind the scenes.
Longer term, the platform is leaning into analytics: salary ranges, geography, hiring and layoff trends, and other industry signals pulled from its games and jobs databases. For teams and job seekers alike, that could turn MobyGames into a practical discovery tool rather than just a historical archive.
