Erm, this sounds like a web-design job, not a job for a c++ programmer, c++ is native code and not suited to multiplatform. Now, you would need a java applet programmer for the applets for instant messaging, download managers ect. Of course, i could be interpreting your intentions wrong, maybe you intend this to be a program rather than a website, which i guess would be feasable. Youd want some server side scripting as well(assuming its not a program), php cgi asp, theres definitely a lot of work involved, but i also think thats a lot of money to dump into web development. Also, if you want to attract developers, i suggest you go into more depth about what the job entails, what languages are allowed (as far as server side scripting goes, some servers will only allow certain languages ect)

anywho, hope that helps

When General Patton died after World War 2 he went to the gates of Heaven to talk to St. Peter. The first thing he asked is if there were any Marines in heaven. St. Peter told him no, Marines are too rowdy for heaven. He then asked why Patton wanted to know. Patton told him he was sick of the Marines overshadowing the Army because they did more with less and were all hard-core sons of bitches. St. Peter reassured him there were no Marines so Patton went into Heaven. As he was checking out hi

In a job like this, a potential applicant must ask himself some questions:

What am I working for?
How much work must I do?
Is what I will receive worth what I will give?

The answer to the first question is $5000.

The answer to the second question is make a gigantic gooball of a program that does a whole lot of things.

The answer to question number three is a little more difficult.

You have to ask yourself some more questions:

How much of my time is worth $5000?
Will the project take more or less time than that?

For me, roughly speaking, $5000 is worth about one month of my time, if I were working full time on something.

The project would take longer than 1 month of working full time.

Ergo, not worth it.

Well, he said he is going to hire 4 programmers, so maybe the project won't take more than a month.

Wow, you calculate 5000 $ for a month of work ?

Where are you working at, Dreamland or Microsoft ?

It's always big fun to read all the realism in this forums ... :-)

Given the fact that $5000 are roughly €3850 I don't see why this is in any way unrealistic. Maybe you have the wrong job (or have never worked yet in the first place) or you just don't realise that you have to pay VAT, tax, health insurance and social pension fund on that (and yes those are to be payed relative to your income - so you'd better do a reality check yourself[wink])...

$5000 per month is not much at all, considering contract programmers ask for $50+ per hour. My personal rate begins at $80.00 per hour, flexible. Full time employees are generally paid less, because they have benefits, and hidden costs that the employee rarely knows about. An employer usually is responsible for providing the worker with the equipment necessary to do the job, training, and paying various taxes for the employee such as social security (US). At my regular programming job I make $3800.00 per month, and that is considered below average for someone with my experience. Each year my employee gives us a "Total Salary Report" that explains exactly how much the company pays out of pocket for me to work there. It was about $8000 more than my salary last year. As a full-time employee you also assume less risk. I don't have to worry about losing a contract or what would happen if I got in a car accident tomorrow. My insurance will help with the bills, and I will still have a job when I get out of the hospital. In addition, contracts are usually short-term, which causes the rate to grow so that qualified individuals will consider it worth their time to accept the project.

$5000 per month seems like a fair wage.

Please don't misunderstand what I was saying. I was only responding to the person who said that you'd have to be dreaming to make $5000.00 per month programming. If I had the time, I'd consider doing the work for $5000.00.

maybe you should split your request to several smaller ones, it'll be easier to find someone who can realize just some parts.
